| Our
Philosophy and Method of Education |
| In
the Bible, God declares that the primary
responsibility for the education of children
belongs to the parents: and these words
which I command you today shall be in your
heart. You shall teach them diligently to
your children, and shall talk of them when
you sit in your house, when you walk by
the way, when you lie down, and when you
rise up (Deuteronomy 6:7).
The
Church supports that role and may both
encourage and facilitate the Christian
nurture of a new generation in many ways.
Parents, therefore, ought not to
abdicate this their responsibility though
they may enlist others to assist them
in the educational task.
This
is the purpose of Good Shepherd School
– to assist parents in the Christian
nurture and education of their children.
As a school, therefore, Good Shepherd
works closely with the parents of students,
and strongly encourages parental involvement
and input in the educational process.
Good
Shepherd School, in following the model
of classical education, progressively
nurtures its students through the three
fundamental stages of learning: Grammar
(foundational and informational skills),
Logic (thinking and reasoning skills),
and Rhetoric (integration and communication
skills).
Our
program is designed to be comprehensive
from the first day in junior kindergarten
through the last day of high school so
that each child will develop spiritually,
intellectually, emotionally, and physically.
Because
we recognize that the primary responsibility
for the training of children belongs to
parents, interwoven throughout the academic
program are strong Christian family values
of moral integrity, respect for self and
others, and the cooperative effort of
school and home.
At
Good Shepherd School our emphasis is not
only on the three R's of READING, `RITING,
and `RITHIMETIC, but also the three R's
of RESPECT for authority, RESPONSIBILITY
before God and man, and RESOURCEFULNESS
in the execution of assigned tasks.

of the Association
of Christian Schools International (ACSI)
since 1987. ACSI's membership

possess broad and successful experience
in Christian school leadership.
Both ACCS and ACSI are accrediting organizations.
In the near future, Good Shepherd School
anticipates beginning the accreditation
process through these organizations once
specific pre-requisites are in place (in
the areas of funding, non-profit status,
and incorporation).

the philosophy and principles of Christian

Our Plans For The Future |
| With
the demand for quality Christian education
on the rise, Good Shepherd School is preparing
to meet the challenge of the future by developing
a three-to-five year strategic plan which
includes expansion of its classes in the
lower elementary grades (Grammar school),
and enrichment of its upper school program
(Dialectic and Rhetoric school) with particular
reference to development of a Home School
Atrium for part-time students.
Included
in the planning is the expansion of our
facilities and campus. In doing so, however,
we at Good Shepherd are determined to
keep out educational program within reach
of any family budget committed to Christian
education.
We
firmly believe that an investment in Christian
education is an investment in the future:
ours, our children's, and our children's
children, all for the good of our community
and the expansion of God's kingdom.
